Symphony
& Choir Directors:
David
Skouson, a music instructor and former broadway conductor/pianist,
received his Bachelors of Music in piano performance from California
State University at Long Beach, and his Masters of Music in
orchestral conducting from Brigham Young University. Mr. Skouson
conducted the first national tour of the Broadway musical Chicago,
and was the musical director of the hit off-Broadway show Secrets
Every Smart Traveler Should Know. His regional credits include
Children of Eden, Merrily We Roll Along, The Fantasticks, Sweeney
Todd, and West Side Story. As a pianist, he has premiered
several new works for solo piano, and piano and voice. As a member
of the Gallimaufry ensemble, he often premieres music composed by
fellow Hewitt faculty member Daniel Denver. Mr. Skouson recently
gave a recital with Jennifer Welch-Babbidge, soloist with the
Metropolitan Opera. David and his wife, Tara, a harpist, often
perform concerts together. They are the parents of three children,
Luisa, Daniel and Katherine.
Jeffrey
Skouson, singer, pianist and master vocal instructor, attended
Brigham Young University for both undergraduate and graduate work in
education and international relations. He has studied with several
renowned voice teachers, including Seth Riggs, one of the
entertainment world's top vocal coaches. Mr. Skouson taught fifth
grade in the Clark County School District before opening his vocal
studio. He trains some 150 private and group voice students from
Nevada, Utah and California and has lectured and taught at the San
Francisco Conservatory of Music, Ball State University in Indiana,
as well as Brigham Young University. Mr. Skouson was Musical
Director for the production of Utah! for two years at Tuacahn
Amphitheater and Center for the Performing Arts, has been vocal
coach for several Signature Productions musicals in Las Vegas
including West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Saturdaydirected the Boys
Chorus of Southern Nevada and made his debut performance with the
Red Mountain Choir in 2000 conducting The Music of Man's Endeavor.
In 2002, as the Choir's newly appointed Conductor-in Residence, he
delighted audiences with "A New World." He is married to Becky
Skouson and has four adorable children, Elizabeth, Madeleine,
Andrew, and Joshua.
Jeremy
Woolstenhulme, composer and director, received a Bachelors Degree of
Music Education from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree
in Cello Performance from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Mr.
Woolstenhulme currently teaches 350 students at Hyde Park Middle
School where he directs seven orchestra classes including a chamber
orchestra and a select strings ensemble. His chamber orchestra has
traveled to festivals in London, Washington D.C., Boston, and New
York, earning top awards at every venue. Of the nearly 50 Middle
School Orchestras in Clark County, Mr. Woolstenhulmehave accounted
for 34% of the 2008 CCSD Honor Orchestra, more than any other middle
school in the district. Mr. Woolstenhulme enjoys performing with the
Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Seasons String Quartet, and other venues
on the Las Vegas He is married to his beautiful wife, Taryn, and
they have two children, Cadence Belle and Coda Blake.
Bob
Orgill, composer and teacher, received a Bachelor's Degree of Music
Education from Western University and a Master's Degree of
Composition and Arrnging from Northern Arizon University. Mr.
Ogrill enjoyed a very successful career as a teacher at Valley High
School, Silverado, the Community College of Southern Nevada and the
University of Nevada Las Vegas. His choral groups have all won many
awards including his "Pop Group" recording a total of five record
albums. As a teacher, Mr. Orgill has influenced thousands of
youth and has set an example for them on how to live their lives. He
considers this period of teaching to be one of the major highlights
of his life. Along with teaching, Bob has also enjoyed conducting
other choral groups including all-male choirs, ward, and stake
choirs. Mr. Orgill once owned a recording studio where he composed,
conducted and produced professional arrangements for vocals and
instrumentation. Mr. Orgill has also performed vocally himself,
including the time he shared the stage with Wayne Newton as a singer
in his choral group. Bob is a current board member for Valley
Hospital and is a prior board member for Shade Tree. He also served
honorably with the United States Marine Corps where he attained the
rank of Sergeant-E5 during his three year enlistment. He is
married to Dianne and has a daughter Carrie Ann.
